My old buddy from my days working for the Hardkiss and Sunburn labels, Lee Howard, hit me up recently about some remix work for a new project he was producing. Lee, the man behind Infinite Posse in the late 90's, has been living up in Portland and working with new artist, Condition White, on some forward thinking r & b tracks. Their new EP that this track is taken from, Slow Burn, is available now and definitely worth a listen! I really dug the track he sent me so Schnezzy and I went in the studio and gave it the 2 Block Radius treatment. The result is a mid tempo house number that takes elements of the original and arranges them overtop a 4/4 beat, adding some chords and filtered percussion. You can hear the original version of Honest Man here but we're giving away our remix for a limited time for free on soundcloud! Hope you enjoy. I've always been a huge fan of Massive Attack, including everything Tricky did with them. I have to say though, I haven't been as excited about a release of his since those days. The new album looks to be amazing and the new single is heavy! My remix takes from the track from it's mid 80 BPM trip hop origin into the land of "dark disco dub". Hope you enjoy it! And, of course, do yourself and the artist a favor and check out the original and the rest of the new album (when it drops)! I'll be playing some tunes tonight (March 14) down at the Gringo Cafe in Ipanema so I thought I'd offer up a free download of a new remix of mine to help set the mood! A remix of the future classic, Cartão Postal (Post Card in English), by the amazing Soul Jazz Orchestra from their new album Solidarity out now on Strut! The Sine Qua Non Só Alegria (Only Happiness) remix extends the original and punches it up for the dance floor, adding some serious disco percussion to drive the track as well as some tamborim drumming to spice things up even more. If you enjoy the remix, please take the time to check out the original as well as the rest of the new album by Soul Jazz Orchestra! Hope to see you tonight, starting at 7pm, at Gringo Cafe for some post-praia disco, deep & house and funk vibrations! Gringo Cafe Barao Da Torre 240, Ipanema, BR. The new album from The XX, Coexist, will be out September 10th but the new single, Angels, is already available. Here is my new "Sente" remix for you all to download. Sente in portuguese basically means "feel it". Are you feeling it? If so, you can download it for free. Enjoy! Much thanks and love to everyone that has taken the time to comment, offer feedback, download, play out and share my productions over the past year. I can't say enough how much I appreciate all of your support. It's been a great year and I'm excited for the year to come. Wishing you and yours all the happiness and blessings you deserve in 2012....Happy Holidays! xo How about a little disco funk by the Ohio Players to get you over your mid-week hump? Here's one of their classic tunes, beefed up and reworked by Jimmy Michaels. The track is "Fire" and damn is it hot! Download this joint now while it's still available.
Some of you may remember my remix of the Cinnamon Chasers track, "Luv Delux", from a couple of years ago. Well I got a message today from my man, James Leake (aka Dj Pangean), telling me he had been listening to it again and it got me wondering what Russ Davies (aka Cinnamon Chasers) has been up to since then. Turns out he's got a new album that just came out called "Science" and I'm digging it! It appears to be a natural evolution from the first effort; synth-heavy modern disco sounds with a bit of an indi rock edge, as evidenced in the tracks with vocals. Take a listen to some samples from the Lp below see what you think. If the original versions aren't enough, there's also a remix album out as well. |
