Tune In For My Guest Set on Freak Da Funk This Friday

Tomorrow, Friday, March 11, I'll be returning to play a guest set on one of my favorite mix shows, Freak Da Funk, hosted by Steve "Griffo" Grifiths. I've got some great new house tunes in the bag, many produced by folks I'm happy to call friends.

I plan on dropping an as yet unreleased joint by my man, Hesohi, off his new album due out April 1st. I've also got a tasty Hesohi edit lined up of Brazilian bossanova legend, Elis Regina, that he was kind of enough to send me. We were flat mates back in San Francisco and I couldn't be happier to see him returning to top form!

I've also got a couple tracks picked out, emanating from Berlin's thriving underground (comprised, in no small part, of SF transplants!), including new material from Jamaica Suk, Kenneth Scott as well as a trippy new release off the high quality, vinyl only label, Blank Slate, run by my man, Kamal Naeem.

But, really, I want to talk a bit about the man behind the show. Steve Griffiths has been an unsung hero of the underground UK house scene since before some of you were born. His career extends back to the acid filled late 80's, where he held down notable residencies in his beloved Birmingham; places like Raymondo's, Bonkers, Que Club and Splosh! Over the years, he's never ceased to continue to push forward his concept of "deep and wide" house music, a sentiment that well encapsulates the breadth of his styles that he displays from within the booth.

In addition to his turns behind the decks, Griffo also stays busy in the studio from his adopted home of Cordoba, Spain, releasing tracks under more aliases than Klaus Barbie, as Carter USM might say. Flow Mechanik, Wolf Hackmine, Second City Firsts, Brummie Blagger and 
Rafa La Rocka are all the work of one man, each personality devised to personify one facet of his multidimensional approach to house.

As if all this weren't enough, the man maintains a frantic schedule of hosting several regular radio shows such as Fluid on Deep Vibes Radio, while still finding time to turn in guest spots on many others. All in days work for one of the hardest working djs you might not have heard of. Until now.

Make sure to tune in tomorrow to see what we get up to! Steve will probably play the first hour before turning the controls over to me for the second before he wraps up the final hour. All of this will be streaming world wide on the site of My House Your House Radio or via their apps (available for iPhone and Android). Tune in and turn on!
