 Slight re-edit of the Paradise Garage classic, Padlock, by Gwen Guthrie (aka First Lady of the Paradise Garage), with Sly & Robbie on the production and Larry Levan assisting in the mix. A bit of slicing, some rearranging, extending, playing around with some slight overdubbing and some slight added percussion, is what's here. This is one of those tracks that I started and thought, "no, i shouldn't touch it" and then I left it alone. I just came back to it again and decided I'd finish what I'd started and upload it, if for no other reason than someone might discover this amazing tune for the first time. Enjoy!

It's a big holiday weekend coming up in Rio and I have two big gigs tonight and Thursday. I'm really excited about them both but they couldn't be more different. There's a paragraph in my bio that reads as follows: From his current home base in Rio de Janeiro, Cardaci plays at the most exclusive spots in the city. But he also maintains his healthy connection to the underground, playing free parties from the beaches of Ipanema to high atop the favelas. Never has this been more true than the next two days with tonights's gig taking place high above downtown in the favela of Morro dos Prazeres and Thursday night's party taking place at the season opener for the legendary Pacha in Buzios. Wednesday, November 19th Black Santa Morro dos Prazeres  I'm honored to be invited to play Black Santa, a free party on Morro dos Prazeres dedicated to funk, soul, afrobeat, latin and other permutations of the African sonic diaspora. Seeing as it's a holiday in Rio, celebrating the life of Zumbi, an escaped slave that set up his own scene for other escaped slaves, it's a real honor to be invited to dj this event. It's free, the view is amazing and the last event pulled in over a thousand people! Things kick off around 8PM and I'll go on sometime after 1AM. Facebook invite below. Black Santa :: Morro dos Prazeres Thursday, November 20th Pacha Buzios  Thursday night, we'll be taking over the second room of Pacha in Buzios as part of their season opener weekend! Me and my man, Mike Mikalsky of Eatme will be playing back to back all night so expect everything from disco and deep house to techno. I love when you get a night that allows to to stretch out and really go on a trip. This night will definitely be a trip! Pacha Gold, Buzios  Although compared to bigger, more established artists, it may not seem like a lot but, when I created a Soundcloud account a few years ago, I honestly never expected I'd see this day. Without any marketing or promotion to speak of (and absolutely no "pay for play" bullshit), the play count on my account has just ticked over 100,000 plays. This was only possible thanks to all the people that took the time to listen to my tracks, follow me, comment on and share them. Thanks also to all the bloggers out there who discovered my stuff organically and bothered to write about it, helping to grow my audience further. A massive shout going out as well to all the djs, such as Kev Beadle, who featured my tracks and edits on their radio shows! I'm truly thankful for all of your support!  As a "thank you" to everyone that has supported me this far, I have a special original track I'm giving away today. This track is special to me because of the story behind it. It features the soulful vocals of Rogiérs Fibby, a guy who grew up in my neighborhood outside of Washington DC and who was actually in my brothers class in elementary school. Through the internet, we reconnected a little while back, appreciating the fact that, since we had seen each other last (in the 80's!), we had both been pursuing our dreams in music. We discussed the idea of a collaboration for a while and one day he sent me this acapela to check out. I was blown away. So much emotion and depth in his voice and delivery. I built a dark and dubby house track around it that, to me, fit the moodiness of his soulful vocals and words of the song. Today, we're giving it away free as a heartfelt "thank you" to everyone who's been with me this far. If you dig it, "liking", "sharing" and commenting is always appreciated and helps me build my audience just a little bit more. Here's to the next 100k! Really pleased to announce that Mike Mikalsky, Nico Martinez and I will be doing a 7+ hour B2B2B set at Pacha Buzios for their opening party on November 20th! Me and the other two monkeys pictured above plan to bring the heat! I can't promise what you might see there but you definitely will "hear no evil". Expect some proper deep house with some forays into techno and a special sunrise session guaranteed to take you there! Cosmic, beach-side bliss!
