Well, damn, if this hasn't made my day! None other than the man, Kev Beadle, has chosen my remix of The Elder Statesman's, Montreux Sunrise for his Mind Fluid radio show! By some chance you're unaware of Mr. Beadle and his 30 year history as a jazz, funk, soul and electronic music taste maker, take a look at a bit from his bio: "In that time he has been involved in many aspects of the music industry from running his own successful record label – Clean Up Records in the late 90’s, retail, distribution, promotion and more recent years event consultant for the legendary Southport Weekender and SunceBeat Festival in Croatia. With a compilation discography in double figures, he has put together some well received compilation albums for labels like Blue Note, Cadet and BBE."

Shout out to DJ Lil Tiger and Empanadamn from the Impulse Travels radio show for showing some love to my Ipanema Sunrise Remix of The Elder Statesman's new track, Montreux Sunrise. They were kind enough to drop my remix into this weeks episode (9/23/14), which airs on WHCR 90.3fm in Harlem, NYC and Traklife Radio in downtown Los Angeles. Listen to the full show here and skip to 52:10 if you want to hear them try and pronounce my name ;)

And while you're at it, go listen to some music from The Groovers!
I'm really excited to announce my remix of The Elder Statesman's "Montreux Sunrise" is out today on my favorite label, Bastard Jazz! This was really a labor of love and kind of a unique story about how it came about. When I heard the original, produced by New Zealand's Lord Echo, I knew I had to put my touch on it. To the original composition of double bass (played by Daniel Yeabsley), piano (played by Christopher Yeabsley) and snare (Lord Echo) I added some light brasilian touches, creating a sort of slomo disco bossa jazz affair. I uploaded it to my soundcloud and sent it on to the label just to check out. To my surprise, Aaron, who runs the label, got right back to me saying he dug the vibe and that he was going to pass it on to Lord Echo to check out. I was pretty happy with this alone but when I got a message a few days later saying that Lord Echo really dug it too and that they wanted to release on an upcoming ep, I was, needless to say, delighted! You can hear my "Ipanema Sunrise Remix" below and, for a mere FOUR BUCKS you can buy the whole ep, featuring great music from Lord Echo, Captain Planet and Nick Wisdom. Pick it up directly from the label's page on Bandcamp! |
